Harley lay beside the stream, lapping up water every now and then. He looked across the creek. Oh, how he wanted to escape. Thn he looked back to his family's apartment. The only thing stopping him. He rose to his four paws, just stretching his chain as far as it could go. He sighed, knowing that he could yank the chain right out of the ground if he wanted.

Akira walked to the creek, thoughts racing through her mind. Food was oddly become less and less abundant. She had no idea why, but that was what she was pondering. It surely had happened before, hadn't it? Darthyn would know what to do. Akira quickened her pace. She stopped sudddenly. A house dog. How unpleasent.

"What do you want with the stream, don't you have your nice metalic water back at your two-leg nest? Hu house pet? I didn't hear you!" she snickered. Akira bent her head down to lap up the water.

Harley narrowed his eyes at the stray. "You got a problem? I can leave whenever I want." He said angrily. He put his paw into the stream, and slashed the female. "Your coat is filthy, trust me, you needed that." He sat down and itched his ear. "And if you don't believe I can leave, I'll prove it." He said, matter-of-factly.

Akira barley even noticed the water. She raised and eyebrow at the house pet. What was he playing at? If he could leave when he wanted we haden't he left? She never really understood the entire 'house pet life' thing. Did they actually want to STAY in that hell? They must be insane!

You actually LIKE it there? Your insane!" she said, as she fell to the ground, rolling around, roaring with laughter. "Tha..... Tha.... Th.... Thats a.... A good one!"she hollered.

Harley rose his brow at her. "Think about it. Free food, water, a bed to sleep in." He said, while he stretched. He sat up, tongue lolling out of his mouth. He looked longingly at the stream, wanting to hop in and cool off. H glaced at te female, then back to the water. Suddenly, his neck jerked and his chain uprooted out of the ground. He hen waded into the shallow water and rolled onto his back. Rolling back up to his four paws he asked her, "Catch my drift?".

Akira raised her brow. He does have a point! But the foods gross, and I like to be free. Don't I? Of coarse I do. She was hot too, but didn't feel like a swim, more like a nap. But she stayed awake to talk some sens into the housepet.

"Yeah, you get 'food', if that can be considered food, it tastes horrible. Trust me, I've had it once before, it's shit. The water? Thats melted plastic! Besides, you have 'rules' to follow. Don't you just ever want to be free? Free of the twolegs who hold you captive and torture you with, chains. I could never let myself be tied down." Akira said. She shuddered at the thought of being tied down. That indeed freaked her out.

Thor looked at her confused. "Well, the food is oka---"

"HARLEYYY!" A young boy shouted, running up to him. Harley winced as the boy yanked at his collar. "Your chain uprooted, boy!" The small human said to the large mutt. Suddeny' the small boy noticed Akira. "Oooh, Harley! Do you got yourself a girlfriend?" The human asked. "Her? No way, human." Harley told him, even though he knew he wouldn't understand. "Hi girl, can I pet you?" The small human asked Akira, extending his hand so she could sniff him.

Akira snarled at the little human. Who did he think he was, intruding on their conversation. Honestly, humans thought they ruled the world, well they rule their own world. But they were so oblivious to what was going on around them. It was mere stupidity, and this human was full of it if he planned on touching her.

Akira snapped at the extended hand, hoping to latch onto it and teach the boy respect.

The boy pulled his hand back, but he was left with a deep cut on his hand. He ran crying into the house. Harley grinned slightly, "Nice one, but you didn't have to bite him." He also snarled slightly. Harley peeked up onto the apartment porch. The childs mother was on the phone saying, "Yes, it's a mid-sized black dog. It looks like a border collie, but I'm not sure.". Harley's eyes widened. "Hey, you oughta get outta here, sound's like she's callin' the pound.".

Akira's eyes grew huge. She couldn't go to the pound! "Nice talking to you, gotta go!" she called over her shoulder as she ran. Maybe she shouldn't have bit him. Oh well, she probably wouldn't be seeing the kid again. All Akira should worry about at the moment was escaping.

The truck wouldn't arrive for about 10 minutes, but a head start wouldn't hurt. Akira bolted for the saftey and comfort of dumpsters and dark alleys.
