Akira walked along the bottom of the gorge. She was always nervous here, afraid of the towering rocks falling and crushing her into a pancake. Pancake's are yummy! she thought quickley. But anyways, her mother had told her to always face her fears. So, she thought she'd give it a go. If the rocks were gonna fall, they would have fallen by now, right?
Akira continued to walk down a narrow run-down path. A few weeds were creeping across the stone. They looked like spider webs, only green, and no spiders. She looked away from the weeds and it was just in time. She heard a crack. A few pebbles fell. She looked up. A rock the size of her was coming loose, and was about to fall! Akira bolted as fast as she could. The rock fell. It hit the tougher stone and crumbled. Akira stopped and staired, watching it fall.
"Whoa. That was so close." she said, shaking a little. I guess I was afraid for a good reason. she added, in her mind. Akira conti ued to walk, but in the middle of the gorge, away from and rocks that could suddenly come loose. She stopped at a small puddle and lapped up a quick drink. The water down here was so pure. She guessed thats why dogs risked their live. Risking it all for this simple plesure.

A thick gray shape wavered in the bushes, golden eyes peering out through the leaves at the lithe black dog lapping at the water. As her tongue pierced the surface it sent ripples radiating out across the water in all directions, each a tiny wave shimmering in the sun. A faint smile cursed his lips as he slunk silently from the shadows concealed within the trees and sat down calmly at the edge of the forest. He wanted to see how long it took Akira to scent him.

As Akira finished to lap up the delicious water, a familiar scent creeped up her nostrils. She raised her head, a few droplets of water dripping from her lips. With a quick swipe of her tounge the droplets were gone. Akira looked around for the source of the friendly scent. She noticed him at the edge of the forest. Looking at him, she smiled, showing off-white teeth. Her brown eyes watched him closley. Whats he up to? she thought devlishly. But Akira swished that thought quickly from her head. He just wanted to be friends, right?
She started towards him. Her soft brown pads, roughening on the hard stone. She smiled again as she walked, her long-black fur bouncing up and down with each step. When she finally reached him, she didn't know what to say. She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. Speak you fool! Speak! "Umm... hey." she said like a fool. "Just came down for a drink. The water is amazing down here." she said, trying to start a conversation.

The alpha watched silently as Akira picked out his scent, then when her chocolate-brown eyes fell upon him, he smirked playfully. When she sat down in front of him, her mouth opened as if to speak. Darthyn pricked his ears forward but nothing met them. A few seconds later, the female managed to stammer out a hello, easily recovering from her moment of panic a minute before. The brute nodded, amber eyes searching her for a hint of embarrassment, but she hid it well. He was impressed.
"Yeah, it's some of the best water in these parts," He spoke, casting a glance at the lake. "Better be careful not to fall in, of course." He emitted a quiet chuckle, his eyes wandering back to hers. Akira was one of his closest friends, although he knew she wanted to be more. Darthyn was very fond of the little black mutt, but his life was too hectic and dangerous for a mate. He reached forward and pressed his muzzle against her soft ebony fur, inhaling her comforting scent that reminded him of the early days when they'd romp and play in the back alleys of the city.
"Oh, Akira," He whispered, knowing she would understand his woes about the pack's development. She knew. She always knew. "It's so difficult to just stand by and watch while my pack isn't growing any stronger." He neglected to mention the fact that Thorn's pups would soon be born, and that his best warrior was about to impregnate another female. But still, it wasn't enough, and Darthyn knew that. No longer could he just watch from the sidelines while his pack refused to grow. He had to do something. And Akira was the best dog to help him.

Akira giggled softley as he chuckled about not falling in. Akira took a look into the past, when she was a small little ball of fur. She with darthyn, play-hunting eachother by the trashcans they currently hunt for food in. She let out a soft sigh, remembering the good ol' days when everything was so easy. That seemed like a century ago, even if it was only a few years...
She felt his muzzle against her fur. It sent a nervious shiver down her spine. Not that she didn't like it there. She heard him whisper sweet words to her. Her eyes opened in a joyous praise to the dog gods. Her dream was coming true, to be closer to Darthyn. More dogs needed to be breeding, and the nursery should be currently full of yipping puppies. She remembered previous years, when the Nursery looked the same as it did this year. Something needed to be done about that.
"It must be very hard." she caressed back. Akira craned dher neck back and licked him on the check. "I would do anything to help you slove this problem." she said. Her nerviousness wiped away. She licked him once more, a small smiled spread across her face. She looked him in the eyes for a moment, taking in the moment with slow, deep breathes.

The steel-gray canine nodded. He knew Akira would go to the ends of the earth for him. A weak smile played upon his features as her soft pink tongue rasped over his cheek. He felt oddly comforted, like there wasn't a problem at all. The alpha met her russet brown gaze, taking in her words. As soon as the soft lyrics met his ears, a light bulb seemed to illuminate over his head. But it was such a silly idea. Then again, what choice did he have?
"I know you would Akira, and that's why I need to ask you a huge favor." He winced, his mind racing faster than a greyhound. "It's hard for me to think of a way to put this but..." He faltered, nervous about what she would say. True, Akira loved Darthyn, but he didn't want a mate. Would she understand that?
"You know I can't take a mate right now but," He paused, watching her eyes for the surprised look her knew was coming. "The pack needs pups...and I won't be around forever. I need an heir." The alpha hesitated, his mind jumbled. "What I'm trying to ask you is..."
He couldn't bring himself to ask it, but he hoped she'd understand.

Oh yes, Akira understood, and she felt like she had just been hit by a 6 semi-trucks and lived. She was excited, a mission of her own. She knew he couldn't take a mate now, even if she wanted him to take her. She nodded softley, catching his gaze, his deep brown gaze that could burn holes through any opponent, and the gaze that melted her heart when she caught it.
"I understand." she said simply. She licked him on the cheek and craned her neck as she watched him go behind her.(Sorry for pp, but, I had to.)
OOC: Matttttiiiinnnggg! -elevator music-
BIC: She sighed and looked at him, watching him come to face her. Now she would have to hang around the nesting hollow until the pups could go out on they're own. She would be useless, which would not be easy for Akira to handle. Then thought struck her, what would they tell the pack?
"Um, Darth? What will we uh, tell the pack?" she asked him. Would they be aloud to know? This troubled her. It would be weird if they didn't, and one day, hopefully in the not-so-near future, one of her pups would take over as alpha. She gave him one more comforting lick on the cheek. I must be hard to be alpha over such a large pack.

As Darthyn dismounted, he rounded the petite Border Collie and came to face her. She was such a beautiful creature, it was hard to imagine such gorgeous pups. He nodded to her, placing a gentle lick upon her cheek. He was amazed by how understanding she was, how she could bare to do this when all she wanted was to be his mate. Darthyn knew it. He'd known it for a long time, although Akira would probably be too proud to admit her love for him. And even though he couldn't take a mate, he felt comfort in the fact that Akira loved him, and for that reason, he loved her too, but he would not let himself fall in love with her. The pack comes first.
"We'll tell them the truth. With the humans vanishing, the town will be empty, except for those wretched domestic dogs, and we'll be able to take over the city. We do need more land. The pack will understand, it may come to fighting, and if I get killed, which I highly doubt, " he smirked, "I'll need an heir to take my place." He had thought about it long and hard. The only other dog he'd trust to take over was Thorn, and he knew Thorn didn't want to be alpha, otherwise he would've done it already. Thorn was wild and free, and he didn't need such a responsibility.
His other choice would have been Akira, but Darthyn knew that the female was far too emotional and passionate about everything, and that she would let her intense emotions cloud her logical judgment. Such was the problem with most females. He trusted her with all his heart, and he valued her friendship. The alpha admired her passion and intensity, but those were the qualities of a beta or an alpha female that wouldn't have to rule alone. So his only other logical choice was to produce an heir. The plan seemed foolproof.

Akira smiled at his soft words. This was great. She had really wanted to help out the pack, and this was the best thing she could do. Her heart swelled to maximum size. This was perfect, brilliant, spectacular. There were no words on earth to discribe it. Sure, they weren't mates, but she knew she was helping a best friend out when they needed it. Akira could have felt happier, but not much.
When they told the pack, wouldn't there be questions asked? They would wonder if Akira was their new Alpha Female. She would assure them no, but them would they think Darthyn had forcebred her? The thought made her sad, Darth would never try to hurt her. The pack would surley raise eyebrows, and Akira didn't want to have rumors flying around that were about her or her dear friend.
The thought of Darthyn getting killed would be terrible for the pack, but would definetly ruin her. She would be an emo-dog. Darthyn could never die. He just couldn't. Akira would make sure his sons and daughters were well though, just in case the unthinkable happened. But it would be awesome if the pack took over the city. They would have all the food in the world! Life would be no better!
"I won't let you dow, Darth." she promised him. Akira couldn't mess this up, she just couldn't. Akira guessed he had a plan, and this was part of it. Happiness was surging through her body. She was going to be a mother! Hopefully a great one. One her pups would love. Oh how she hoped she had a lot of them. She had always wanted a big family.
