Tila walked slowly next to her human, her body crouched low in submission to the other dogs and her ears folded back slightly and her eyes wide as she glanced around. She was always brushing against her human's leg as if she thought something terrible might happen if she strayed to far.
"Now stay, girl," the human said gently as she tied the leash to a thin, but sturdy tree and left for a bit to do human things. Tila whined softly and lay down in the shade of the tree. Her belly was slightly swollen, but because her pups were few, she wasn't as big as she might have been if she was having a normal litter. She panted softly and looked around at all the other dogs that got to run around. She wasn't necessarily jealous, but knew that her owner tied her up because she was pregnant and wasn't supposed to run around a lot. She sighed and continued looking around, wondering if any of these strange dogs would come to talk to her.

Lance had gotten into the upscale dog park quite easily, simply by slipping through the gate after a human and their dog. Nobody seemed to notice him, for he kept his thick red and white coat sleek and clean, unlike many strays. The park was filled with dogs of all shapes and sizes, but the one that drew his eye wasn't running and playing with the rest of them.
"Now, what kind of owner takes their dog to the dog park, and ties them up?" he asked as he approached the german shepherd. Looking her up and down, he noticed that she was pregnant, though it looked like she wasn't very far along. She was also considerably timid looking. Lance circled around and sat down in front of her, smiling in what he hoped was a warm and friendly manner.

Tila jumped slightly when the new dog approached her. At first, she assumed he was owned, but she spied no collar around his fluffy neck. "My owner says that I can't run around. My pups are due any day," she said timidly and eyed him again. "Where's you collar? And where's your human?' she asked and then her eyes got wide.
"Are you a stray?" she asked, dragging out the word 'stray' more out of curiosity than rudeness. She'd heard that strays were filthy, vicious animals that would no sooner kill a housedog than look at it.

Lance watched as the shocked expression grew on her face. He raised a brow, amused at her suprise. She looked as if she had never seen a stray before. "Yes, I am." he said, hoping it wouldn't scare her. The last thing he needed was a housedog spazzing out and calling attention to him.
"I don't have a collar, or a human." he said, looking down at her belly again. If her pups were due any day, then they must be few. Lance imagined that her human had bred her. He frowned inwardly. If being a house pet meant you had to breed with whoever your human decided, he was glad he wasn't one. Shaking the thought from his mind, the husky looked back at her timid eyes. "My name is Lance. May I have the pleasure of knowing yours? Unless you prefer not to associate with strays like myself." he chuckled.

Tila looked hesitant, but she finally spoke. "I'm Tila," she sort of mumbled. "How can you...stand living without knowing where your next meal comes from or where you're going to sleep at night?" she asked after a slight pause and shuddered. She couldn't imagine such an existence and she was thankful that her humans provided her with food, clean water and a place to sleep day after day.
She eyed Lance warily and scooted a bit closer to thin tree to which she was tied, seeking security from the feeling of something behind her. Her ears were folded back against her skull and her tail was pressed against her side. She stared at Lance, waiting for him to speak again.
