Harley skidded to a stop in front of the apartments. He looked behind him. Eli was probably still on the way here. He planted his rump at the foot of the stair case, and waited for his little friend to arrive. He also barked out a signal, in case he was lost.

And, of course, the small brown pup had gotten himself lost, but Harley's bark set him straight. He ran in his clumsy, puppish way towards the bigger dog, but slowed down once he left the shelter of trees and things to hide behind. He glanced nervously at the large building behind Harley as if it might swallow him whole if he went to close.
He didn't notice the similarities between this and the lodge, all he knew was that this place scared him. He crawled over to Harley and sat down, looking around constantly to look for any potential dangers.

Harley frowned as he looked down aat the frightened Eli. "Oh calm down. 'Tis jus' a buildin'!" He reassured the pup. "Now, just follow me before you wet yourself." He said jokingly as he padded towards the stairs. "Okay, now you just climb up these. They're called stairs. It's just like climbin' a hill with lots of rocks on it. Aiight?" Harley said, beginning his climb up the staircase, then sat at the top, waiting for the small pup.

Eli tentatively placed his paw on the first step and paused, waiting for something back to happen. When nothing did happen, he slowly hauled himself up the rest of the stairs and came to stand beside Harley. He looked up at him and shook his fur as if he was wet and sat down, looking at the door of the building with nervousness evident in his expression.

Harley showed Eli a deep nod of approval, and proceeded to the door. He pawed at it with his paw. "No worries, if they try to touch you, don't bite. They won't hurt ya, just pet you." He reassured the pup.
Suddenly the door opened and the children pet Harley affectionally. But just as suddenly, a flurry of 'oooh's and awwww's' came from the small humans as they went over and pet the small pup. "You are so CUTE!" The small girl said, massaging his ear as the small boy ran inside to get his mother. "See? They ain't so bad." Harley explained to the pup.

Eli shyed away when the humans started for him and he growled when they reached for him. He was about to snap with the girl touched him, but remembered Harley's words and instead, crouched there as if wishing to get away.
He whined softly to the older dog and looked down at the ground.

Harley watched as the kids pet the pup, and had to figure out a way to get them away. He let out a long, slow whine. The young girl perked up. "Harley? Are you hungry, boy?" She began, as she ran into the apartment. "MOOOOM! HARLEY'S HUNGRYYYY!" She shouted.
"Ah, perfect. Dinner time." He said as the sound of kibble being poured into his plastic bowl filled the air. "C'mon in, kid. Get somethin' good to eat. Just stay under me, and the kids'll leave ya alone,'kay?" Harley said, as he walked into the apartment, and waited for the pup to follow.

Eli gave a nod "Okay," he said and followed Harley, scurrying under the bigger dog and crouching slightly as if to avoid the reaching hands of the children. He looked around the inside of the building, his pale eyes narrowed slightly with distrust.
"And this food is going to be good?" he asked, still looking around and letting out a soft whine at a side table in a hallway.
