Escaped! Fell’s family had gone away for a few days. Or at least, that’s what he could only figure. They had said something, but he really didn’t understand what most of it meant. Hawaii? What was a Hawaii? Anyways, some neighbor had been assigned to come and play with Fell every day and feed him, give him water and the whole sha-bang. The kid came at the same time every day, and only once a day. So, after that, he knew he was free as a bird to do whatever he please. Including jumping the fence, and taking a stroll around the town.
Today, he decided to head on down to the creek. It was a hot day, and especially hot for him because of his huge pelt. Sure, he loved how fluffy and pretty his fur was, but it really did suck during the summer. With his jaw dropped, a pink tongue lolled out of it as the male panted, making his way towards the creek. Even though it was hot, he didn’t plan to jump into the water. Maybe just take a drink from it and then lay down beside it under a nice shady tree, and then perhaps take a nap? His collar jingled quietly as the metal of his tags clanked together. Stupid things, at least if the dog catcher came around he wouldn’t be put to sleep. No, his family would be called and he’d be let free! That was a good thing about a collar. A stray didn’t have a free ‘get out of deaths jaw’s pass like owned dogs did.
Arriving at the creek, Fell’s dark eyes looked for a good place to get to the water at. As soon as he found it, he slowly approached the water. Lowering his head, his pink tongue lapped at the water, scooping the cold refreshing water into his mouth. The fluffy tail behind him swayed slightly to and fro. His large ears tilted slightly, listening for any off noise. Fell always kept his guard up, especially when he was away from home. There was a lot of strays around the town, and the amount kept getting higher and higher. It didn’t make sense. If he couldn’t fend for himself, he probably wouldn’t dare leaving his yard. Fell was a big and strong dog though, and he could easily take on most dogs. It was a good thing, indeed.

Ah! What a lovely day to go swimming Twilight thought as the sun beat down on her sleek white coat. Black pads trotted softly down the green slope to the edge of the creek. The female German shepherd crouched down and lowered her mouth to drink from the cool water that flowed through the creek. While she drank, her eyes slowly scanned the edge of the creek for any strangers. Large snowy ears flicked around, trying to catch any sounds of life other than herself. Light footsteps could be heard, but they didn't worry her, they sounded a ways off. Finished with her drink, Twilight stood up, and waded up to her chest in the refreshing water. Standing there for a few moments with her eyes shut, the female let the water swirl around her intruding bulk in the creek.

A large ear sitting a top his head tilted suddenly. There it was, he cold hear footsteps off in the distance. Slowly, his head lifted up and away from the water. Should he investigate? Maybe it was a stray, well, more than likely it would be. Not a lot of dogs strayed from their homes without their owners. This dog was definitely by itself, too. Fell slowly took a few steps away from the water, his tail swaying behind him.
It wouldn’t hurt to investigate, would it? His curiosity always got the best of him, another trait he had gotten from his wolf of a father. Soon, Fell found himself wandering down along the creek towards where the noise had came from. It smelled like a female, so it would be safe to approach her, even if she was a stray. Not long after he began to walk along the creek, his dark eyes landed on the form of a white female dog, standing in the water.
A small smile twitched onto his lips as he stopped walking, keeping about 10 feet from her. Her eyes were closed, but no doubt she probably heard him approaching. Fell dropped his rump on to the ground, sitting on the earth by the creek. ”Hello.” He greeted, his tail thumping softly on the ground beside him.

Twilight did, in fact, hear the male approach. She didn't turn around until she heard him sit down. The white female turned around slowly. Even with her slow movements, water sloshed further up her coat, drenching it and turning it a light gray. The female tilted her head to the side in a curious expression, watching him. Hello. She said simply. A hot day to have a thick coat eh? Twilight inquired. She herself had a moderately thick coat, and suffered some in the hottest of the summer months. It was a good thing the female enjoyed the water. Wagging her tail lightly, she sprayed water droplets in an arch above her, sprinkling her coat once again with moisture.

Well, it seemed he had managed to stumble upon a friendly dog. It was definitely a relief. Sure, he liked to be alone at times, but he also enjoyed being around others just as much. A small laugh escaped the male, his head nodding at her comment. ”Yeah, a hot day indeed.” It really did suck to have such a big fluffy coat during the summer, but there wasn’t anything he could do about it. Okay well, he had thought about not getting into the water, but it seemed more and more tempting.
Fell lifted himself from the ground and made his way a bit closer, and then turned and took a few steps into the water. The cold water really did feel good on his feet. It made the water all that more irresistible. ”I can’t wait for summer to be over..” He said softly, followed up by a small sigh. Fell glanced over at the female, ”Do you have a home, or are you a stray?” He asked, mostly out of curiousity.

A tiny bark escaped her less-than-formidable jaws as the small Husky puppy trotted up the side road across the street from the creek. As she jogged, her fluffy tail bobbed up and down, matching in rhythm with the tips of her large, pointed ears. The red and white dog sniffed the air, her duo-toned eyes gleaming. There were dogs about! One smelled faintly of a Twoleg home, and Luna recoiled instantly.
The young canine slowed to a walk, large paws treading lightly against the hot pavement. The summer sun made it feel as if she was walking on a stove top. Eying the other two dogs, the young'n pondered whether to approach them. After studying their body language for a moment, and the tones of their voices, she judged that they weren't hostile, and she trotted over, crossing the black-topped street quickly as it seemingly singed her paw pads. Although young, Luna was street smart and adventurous, but she trusted way too easily. In the short span of time between pup-hood and adult-hood, that awkward adolescent stage, all a dog wants to do is play and make new friends and explore.
Luna was no exception. She was just coming into adulthood, her puppy fur being replaced by pretty ginger and white adult fur, longer and silkier than ever. She stood beside the two dogs and inclined her head, offering a sniff in greeting. As she took in both of their scents, wrinkling her nose slightly at the smell of dry dog food on the male's breath, she smiled and wagged her tail. He was large, but not much larger than her, and in time, she would be just as big, so she didn't fear him at all. The female was a bit smaller, closer to Luna's present size.
"Hello." She said confidently, her unmatching eyes glinting. "It's a nice day."

He panted and ran across the black pavement. It burned his black pads as he did so. His spotted fur was soaked in sweat. He had been stupid enough to fall asleep in the shade. But the sun moved and he was in the sun most of the time he slept. So Gregg was officially over-heated.
Sweat dripped as he ran. His first day on the street had not been a pleasent one. He just wanted to get cool and clean his fur. Gregg only knew of one place, the creek. He scraped his paws as he ran. Soon he came to a gravel path, then just dirt. The creek was in view, but so was three other dogs. He ignored them and jumped of a 15 foot edge. He landed in the water with a huge splash for such a small puppy. Water went everywhere, spraying everything near it. He surfaced. Dalmations were fairly good swimmers, so it was just instinc to swim around with a smile on his face.
"Ahh, thank goodness." he said with a sigh of relief.

Suddenly, his ears perked, tilting as he heard a small bark. Turning his head to the side, Fell looked for the culprit behind the tiny bark. It sounded like a pup, but what would a pup be doing out here by itself? His dark eyes soon landed on a small Husky pup, who looked to be in the awkward point between a pup and adulthood. Quietly, the male watched as she approached. Once she was close enough, Fell leaned his nose in and sniffed the pup. She smelled of dirt, and well, there was nothing homely about the dog at all. He soon came to the simply conclusion that she must be a stray, but he wouldn’t judge her based on that simple fact.
A smile curved its way onto the males lips as she greeted them. They had just been talking about how it was hot, and Fell really didn’t think it was such a nice day at all. Bursting the pups happy bubble was the last thing he would do, so he decided not to argue it. ”Hello.” Fell paused for a moment, glancing over at the female he had been talking to, waiting to see if she had anything to say. When she didn’t, he looked back at the pup and nodded his head towards her. ”Indeed.”
Before he could say much more, his ears tilted once more as the sound of running paws reached them. Another puppy? What was this, gathering of the pups or something? Before Fell could even make a move to avoid the dog and the splash he created from jumping in, he felt cold water splashing all over him. So much for Fell’s plan to avoid getting completely wet, right? This little spotted pup had just foiled it. A small chuckle escaped the large brute as he watched the Dalmatian.
”Feel better, hm?” Fell asked, continuing to chuckle softly at the sight. What an odd bunch that had just gathered here at the creek.

The large female immediately went into defense mode as she heard the sound of apprapproachingws. Her figure stiffened, and her fur prickled. Only for a few seconds though, before she realized the approaching dog was a pup. Oh, yes, this must be the pup that barked earlier. Although Twilight realized somewhat, she still didn’t relax all the way. Was there others coming, other adults coming for their strayed away pup? In spite of herself, Twilight managed a smile. Yes, it is quite a nice d… She abruptly stopped mid-word. Now there were others aproaching, possibly an adult. Twilight coiled like a spring, forming defensive posture again in a second. The attempt was useless though, for soon she spotted another pup. Except this one was bounding for the creek. Uhoh… Twilight barely had time to think that before she darted out of the way as the spotted pup came sailing to wards her. Soon after she moved, a small wave of water sprinkled her over from the pup’s splash. Twilight shook herself indignantly.
