Another Day{Birdnose/Oddpaw}Another Lesson

The Mapple Forest was a pleasant place, a calm place. The perfect stage for a play of educational purpose. Which, as most would guess, was why it was chosen among the mentor's of Meadowclan as the perfect area to train the future warriors in the art of hunting and battle.
Birdnose, who sat, hidden, behind a large holly bush, was no different from the rest when it came to where he should spare with his Apprentice, Oddpaw.
The warrior was hidden quite well, his coat comoflauged perfectly with the reddening leaves of the leaf-fall sickened bush. Only a few spots of his white pelt gave him away, but he doubted it would make much of a difference. The male's brown eyes were sharp and attentive, his nose silently twitching as he awaited the arrival of the pup. His ears were perked as he watched the path he was sure the younger dog would take to reach the Mapple's, his gaze unwavering. Though, such attention was not needed, especially for the likes of Birdnose. His tracking skills were superb and he was confident he would smell or hear the little-tyke bounding down the trail long before he actually reached his mentor. But, you could never be to careful these days. Little ones always had some new way of surprising you.
Where was that pup?

Oddpaw glanced around, ears pricked as she padded through the soft grass. It was her first training session today, and although her heart fluttered with excitement, she felt nervous and doubtful, as per usual. She scented her new mentor before she saw him. Birdnose was almost completely hidden among the maple trees.

"Um...hi," she said, eyes studying her paws. She began to pray to StarClan to give her the grace and agility to not screw this whole thing up.

Birdnose's ears twitched in surprise, a small smile curling his lips as the apprentice scented him out. Impressive.... he mumbled inwardly.
With a small, friendly chuckle, Birdnose slid out from behind to holly bush and made his way, tail wagging, toward the she-pup.
"Quite a nose you got there, Kiddo," he barked with a smile, running his tongue gently over Oddpaw's forehead.

Oddpaw's chest flooded with pride, her first real complement from her mentor! She smiled awkwardly and shuffled her paws, rustling the fallen leaves. She blinked her lopsided eyes at her mentor, secretly wishing that she would one day be a warrior like him.

"So um...what," She stammered, her low confidence getting the best of her. "What are we going to be p-practicing today, B-Birdnose...?" The apprentice flicked her tail nervously, then sat down on it so that her mentor would not think she was being a silly, whiny little pup. She wanted to learn everything she could. She wanted to be a warrior, and she knew she would have to be more confident, more assertive.

Making a mental note to practice speaking to older dogs without stuttering, she gazed at her mentor, eyes wide while she waited for a response.
