The alpha paced restlessly, his massive gray paws thudding loudly and swiftly upon the damp, mossy terrain. A deep growl rumbled within his jugular, but dissipated before it touched the dog's lips.
"How long have I waited, Thorn?" He spoke in a voice as gruff and worn as his filthy exterior. Amber eyes burned with worry. A few steps away, in the shadows, lingered a lanky young wolfdog, obviously much more youthful than the alpha, but evidently larger and taller, thanks be to the wolven blood that tainted his veins.
"Long enough, my liege. I have since lost count of the years," His voice was less grave, but a tinge of worry still taunted his melodious dialogue. The hybrid was handsome, but his attractive features were creased with evident distress. Beside him, the alpha, a much shorter dog, but one of unmatched strength and agility, paced restlessly. From the shadows, a silken laugh was emitted. The sound was cold and calculating, yet not sinister to the two males in the slightest.
"Why hello Xombi, what a pleasant surprise." The alpha's words seemed to drip poison at the word pleasant, but he smirked and nodded to the pretty young female who has slid slowly from the shadows but a moment before. Her long russet fur was dripping with pond water from her shoulder down, and her deep brown eyes burned with interest.
"What seems to be the problem, Darthyn?" She asked boldly, as was her nature.
"I am not young, Xombi," answered the male, "And I will not always be around to lead the pack." He gave a grim look to Thorn, who nodded solemnly. Indeed, it was the alpha's fifth year, and not many street dogs lived past seven or eight. "I need to produce an heir. But none have proven worthy enough to carry on the bloodline." He growled again, disheartened by his plight.
"That is my problem."

Sauntering about in the shadows, was a beauty with dark brown eyes. Her gaze was wandering quietly, her footsteps silent as the dawn, her pelt blacker than shadows yet highlighted with chocolate hues all about that caused her to look like a billowing black flame when she ran in the sun. She'd been watching for some time now, she wanted to approach but just didn't know how. She'd seen Darthyn himself, she'd wanted to talk to him, but not with the others at his side. So she sauntered to and fro through the shadows for a bit, thinking things out.
She wondered just how long it would take for him to notice her, for she'd been sitting here, pacing, for the past three minutes. Yet, as the conversation went on, she noticed that she was unnoticed. She didn't like that other female about, perhaps because she looked a bit like herself, and because she didn't like females in general. Her gaze wandered to the handsome wolf-like canine, but neither of these dogs were what she sought. No, she didn't wish audience with either, she wanted Darthyn. She wanted to speak with him, and him alone.
Finally, her patience grew short, she couldn't wait any longer. She walked forth and into the light, her head and plume resting slightly high as she stood in complete confidence before the dogs. She'd not cower because there were three of them and only one of her. It wasn't in her nature. "Darthyn, I come seeking your private audience."[/b] she told him, her ears flowing forward to stand tall as she awaited his reaction, her gaze resting upon him and only him; ignoring the other presences about her. She hadn't come to talk to them, she'd come to speak with Darthyn, and that's what she'd do. [/size]
