The wind ruffled her dark fur as Xombi sat on a ledge, amber eyes glowing as they scanned the horizon. Darthyn had told her that her new trainee, Sivamet, would be here shortly. Xombi turned her gaze to the east. The sun was barely peeking up behind the treeline, but she knew that the pup should be here soon. I wonder what kind of scrappy little creature Darthyn has paired me with, she thought. Must be someone who needs real discipline.
Pushing those thoughts aside, the pretty female resolved to wait only a few more minutes. She would not tolerate tardiness.

Is that a rat? I swear it's a rat. No...it's a mouse! No wait....maybe it's neither....
Sivamet...wasn't where she was supposed to be. She had completely forgotten about having to be anywhere at all, Darthyn's words having flown right out her ear when she'd chased something into town and was trying to figure out what it was. It was some little scrap of a thing, and the three month old couldn't be bothered to remember things such as training when her ADD mind was being distracted by a 'mystery'. Because that's what Siv regarded it as, a mystery, and she absolutely had to figure out what it was or she would die.
She dodged from one side to the other, bouncing around like the hyperactive puppy she was, when a memory shot through her head. Don't forget to meet Xombi for your training. It's very important, and she's a serious and not so patient dog, don't make her wait on you. Oops. That was what Darthyn had told her...which meant she had somewhere to be, that was not chasing this mouse/rat/thing. CRAP!
Sivamet bolted out of the alleyway and tore off to the bloodshed shelf, mentally kicking herself. She was sooo late, and in so much trouble if Xombi had left and told Darthyn that she hadn't shown up. Of course, Siva managed to get there in five minutes, still very late, and was so very graceful, that she bounded straight into Xombi. [/color][/blockquote]

As the moments wore on, the agitated female emitted a fierce snarl and righted her posture at once. She began to pace, tossing her head angrily as another few minutes passed. Another frightening snarl tore through her jaws and she turned to go. If this little "trainee" of Darthyn's doesn't want to learn, then I don't want to teach. Not that she was dying to teach some tender-footed little snot anyway.
As soon as she rounded a bend, a flying ball of black and white fluff hurtled toward her and almost knocked her over. Snarling angrily, Xombi scrambled up as quick as she could, hoping to seem unphased by the little spill she'd taken. She found herself staring down at a very confused-looking Border Collie pup. She assumed the pup was about one season old, if she could count on the size of the whelp's paws versus her legs.
"Sivamet." She stated. It wasn't a question. "You're late." Xombi was not pleased. "However, your training begins now. Next time, be here on time. At dawn." With a look of contempt, she turned and trotted swiftly back to the clearing, not looking back once, but commanding quite loudly for the whelp to hurry the hell up.

Siv frowned at the snarl she earned from her new teacher. "You're kinda snooty." She observed, jogging to keep up with the older and bigger female. She wasn't at all taken aback by the fact that she had been snarled at, talked down to, and virtually snubbed and almost ignored. Sad thing was, Sivamet was very used to this. She'd been running around without her parents, and not many of the other dogs wanted to spend any time talking to her, so she'd had to find the forest pack on her own, and see if she could join with them. Now she had protection from those that would attempt to kill her because she was a nuisance, now she had somewhat of a family unit, and now she was being taught what she needed to know. Even if it was by an uptight, snooty big thing.
Turning her teeny little nose up in the air, Siva jogged beside her mentor, sneaking looks with her peripheral vision. "Wait....You expect me to wake up at DAWN?! I usually sleep till noon!" She squeaked, looking quite surprised and not at all happy about it. Sivamet did not like to wake up, she was the exact opposite of a morning person and damn proud of it. She hated the mornings, she hated waking up, she hated having to do things early. It sucked. And she could already tell that she wasn't going to like Xombi, she was snooty and she expected her to wake up at DAWN.

Ignoring the pup's comment, the large dog snorted briefly in laughter. Spirited little one, thought Xombi, let's hope she doesn't break. When they reached the ledge upon which the warrior had been sitting earlier, the russet female turned around to face her new ward.
"Yes. Dawn." She rolled her eyes, flexing her paws so that she churned up small rivets of soil with her claws. "It will teach you discepline. You do want to be one of Darthyn's warriors, don't you?" She smirked, amber eyes searching the pup coldly.

Sivamet was so focused on keeping up with the other female, that she didn't seem to notice when they'd turned around the corner and Xombi halted and looked at her, so she kept going for another pace or two, and then had to sit down hard so she stopped in time. Huffing indignantly, she stood up, shook her multi-colored tail off, and strutted back to her new mentor.
Siv frowned when Xombi seemed to talk down at her, rolling her eyes in the process. "I can learn 'discipline', without waking up at such an unholy hour of the day." She returned, sniffing as she turned up her nose at the very idea of having to wake up so early. Her gaze flicked to the soil for an instant, as she watched the other dog make small ruts in the dirt, and then let her gaze return to her companion's eyes. Sivamet delicately wrinkled her nose as the female threw it in her face that she wanted to be one of the warriors of the pack. "Yes. I'm still young, though, and unlike you, I haven't turned into such a cold person that I don't enjoy the pleasures of life and sleeping and such." She answered. [/blockquote]

Although the pup's words stung the female slightly, she decided to handle the situation differently than she normally would (i.e: biting and clawing) This time, however, Xombi forced an authentic sounding laugh, her fluffy chest rising and falling with the sonorous sound of her chuckle.
"You are a fiery little one, Sivamet. There may be hope for you yet." She smirked, her features curling up into a warm half-smile, while her eyes stayed cold and stationary. She neglected to chastise the pup for disrespect; youngsters didn't learn understand the concept of respecting their elders. With time and proper training, Xombi could tell Sivamet would be a fierce warrior.
"And you can put that to good use, you know." She paused, inclining her head forward and speaking much more softly now, "if you can learn to channel your spunk correctly." Lifting her head again, Xombi got up on all four feet and braces herself. If a gruff voice, she said, "All right, now, using that fiery energy, tackle me as hard as you can. Let's see if you can make your attacks as potent as your words."
