She always woke up at this time. It was just natural for Medusa, waking up quite early in the morning, just after the sun began to rise. It made her feel good, but sometimes she was sleepy at time because of staying up a bit too late the night before. She couldn’t be told what to do though, and she certainly couldn’t change her sleeping schedule. So, if she was forced to wake up at a time she didn’t want to, then Medusa would get up and wander about until she was fully awake. Medusa looked up at the sky through the trees, ear twitching for any source of sound, but found none. Looking about slowly, the suspicious dog sauntered-slash-stalked across the soft ground, head low. She was never a happy bunny in the morning.
Wandering about the forest, Medusa caught a few old scents. Urban dogs. Ears pricking forward, she came to a halt gradually and looked round, spotting the boundaries to the Urban pack land. Snorting in their general direction, she turned and held her tail up high and stalked off back to where she felt more safe. Then she heard it. A rustle. A small, tiny rustle that could probably only be noted by silent dogs. She looked round and spotted a squirrel. Was she hungry? No. Would she hunt it anyway? Of course.
Racing towards it with surprising ease, being a saluki and all, she was already a few inches near it. Teeth bared, she dived for the squirrel’s neck, but it ran off and she chased after it, attempting to make no noise at all apart from the thud of her paws. She caught up with it and bit down on its neck, shaking it thoroughly and throwing it into the air before snapping at it again once it landed on the ground. It was always good to make a quick check that the prey was really dead. Baring her bloody teeth, she stared down a the animal. Was she hungry now? No. Taking in a deep breath, she raised her head proudly and sat down, not even needing to catch her breath. Perhaps someone would come by and claim her little catch.
