Shadow
The night was peaceful enough. As if the feeling was contagious, the female canine found herself completely relaxed as she lay inside the Nesting Hollow. The place was unusually quiet for an area where pups should be romping and squealing at all hours; it was clear to the fem that the pack she resided with was in desperate need of a breeding pair or three. Though she highly doubted there were any mothers close by, the female lay close to the enterence, just in case someone wanted her out. Not like she wouldn't put up a fight - especially if they, themselves weren't even part of the pack.
Shadow lay on her side in a relaxed manner, her head heald up and muzzle tilted slightly upward toward the glowing full moon. Tonight, the constellations were in clear view in all their glory. The light from them cast down magnificintly on the gorgeous animal as she lay there silently, crimson optics sparkling with a rare good-nature as she looked up into the night sky. "Tell me, did you sail across the sun? Did you finally make it to the Milkey Way to see the lights faded, and that heaven is overrated?" She sang quietly, the tones beautiful to the ears of any who would care to listen closely enough to the soft lyrics. Singular left ear flicked back to the Siberian Husky and Alaskan Malamute mix's cranium, her pure black coat shining gloriously in the moon's glow. "And tell me, did you fall for a shooting star? One with a permanent scar... And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there?"
Going silent once more, her mouth hung slightly for a breif moment before closing fully. Shifting her wolf-like muzzle away from the sky, Shadow glanced about for a moment. Finding herself still alone, the two-year-old sighed, lowering her head to her fore-paws. "And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there?" The lyrics were whispered into the stoic air, a note of longing and maybe loneliness mingling within her vocals. Shadow sighed then, closing those glowing blood-red optics and becoming completely invisible to the non-attentive eye.

ooc // When I was little, I thought the words were: "looking for your cell phone there" LMAO.
The night sky held the interest and awe of many a creature, and the pretty black canine wasn't the only one in the Nesting Hollow who seemed transfixed by the glory of the vast beyond. Laying a ways away, too far away into the corner of the Hollow to be seen in the thick darkness, was a ruggedly attractive wolf-like dog. Thorn had also been stargazing when he heard the most beautiful voice coming from near the Nursery. Curious to find the source of the melody, he spotted the pitch black outline of a dog. Judging by the voice coming from the creature, she was female, and she was tall and lithe, like himself.
As soon as her melancholy song ended, the wolf hybrid urged himself to make his presence known, but it took him a few minutes of gentle persuasion to do so. Hoisting his body up with as little noise as he could, the ebony canine crept from the darkness that engulfed the sheltered area that circumscribed the Hollow.
"Your voice..." He whispered, not wanting to startle the creature, whose back was turned to him. "It seems as though the stars themselves are singing." The words had escaped him before he could think about them, and it was then that Thorn knew he had made a terrible mistake. He had been sweet. He hadn't meant it, but it had happened. He had been given an important mission by the alpha, and if he got too close to one female, the plan could be ruined.
Wishing he hadn't said anything, Thorn clamped his jaws shut, willing himself not to say anything else until she spoke.

Kitty sighed, looking up at the sky from the entrance of the nursery. It was much better than the city, with all it's lights and noise. Here you could actually see the stars.
Finally, she padded out of the nursery, and toward Thorn. She had a question she'd been meaning to ask him, but until now she hadn't feel it was the right down.
It took her longer than normal to get to where Thorn was. The pups, even though she was rather early in the pregnancy, were draining her. She slowly stepped up next to Thorn. she said, hoping the other Fae wouldn't be offended.

Shadow
Her ears had swivelled to catch the sound of pads thumping quietly against the earthen ground long before the vocals entered the air. It was definately a male; and by his scent, he was part of the Stray Pack. Nothing so far to worry her, for surely, with what he said he wasan't any protective parent. Lifting her head slowly from her paws, she turned her wolf-like muzzle to face the brute, giving a smirk and chuckling; for tonight, she was in a rarely good mood. "Thank you?" She muttered, more questioning than she'd wished, "I've never really been complimented like that." Her tail swished in the grass once, twice before she nodded an official greeting. "My name is Shadow, and yes, I'm part of the pack." The female murmered rather kindly, acting oddly out of nature; but something about this brute spoke of dominance, and he seemed trustworthy enough.
It was then that a new scent mingled with his; that of a female, and she was easily to be seen because of her white fur. Crimson optics narrowed slightly, pricked ears straining forward to catch the words the other had said to the male; but she was unable to catch them. Sighing, she finally muttered; "Hello?" Not waiting for an answer, she rose to her feet. Long, muscled legs brought her lean form forth at a slow-paced trot, choker-chain collar jingling quietly as she haulted two feet in front of the male, cocking her head slightly to the side in confusion; was this his mate or something?

She looked at the other Fae. "If you want, I suppose you can stay. I'll probably be leaving shortly. These pups are making me tired." She paused, then continued." I am Kitty, more commonly referred to as Kit." She didn't want to say anything. Not yet, anyways. She would befriend this Fae, perhaps, once she found her trustworthy. She looked back at Thorn, shuffling her feet slightly. This had got to be one of the most awkward things she'd ever done.

The black wolfdog smiled and nodded, listening to the female speak. Shadow, how appropriate. he thought to himself, amber eyes searching her. Glad to hear she wasn't an intruder, he let out a deep breath of relief, and he let his guard down slightly.
"Well met Shadow.I am Thorn, warrior." He spoke his title proudly, his chest out and eyes gleaming. There was nothing more impressive than being one of Darthyn's most trusted warriors, because, as everyone knows, it is not easy feat to gain the alpha's trust. As soon as the words left him mouth, a familiar scent hit him. Kitty? Turning his head toward the Nursery, he watched silently as the pregnant canine trodded slowly towards the pair of taller dogs.
As she spoke, he lifted a brow, wondering where she got the authority to order Shadow around. She was just as much a part of the pack as Kit was, so there was no reason for the Bulldog to give her permission to stay. Realizing that the white and brown dog must have had a reason to intrude upon their conversation, he said, "Is there a problem, Kit? Do you need me to hunt for you?" He would honor his promise to Darthyn; he would keep Kitty, and any future mother-to-be that carried his pups, healthy and happy.

The Femme looked at the two dogs. Would the other Fae be his next pick for hid mission. She shifted her weight, her paws aching. She finally decided to sit down. When she did, it made her belly rather uncomfortable, so she softly snorted and got back up again.
Finally, after she got as comfortable as she could, she sighed, and looked up at him. "No. Well, yes, but that's not what I was here for. I have a question." She paused, then forced herself to go on. "I've been wondering for quite awhile; Do you love me, or am I just an object in you're mission. I know that knowing I'm helping out the pack should be enough, but..you know... ." she finished, forcing herself not to look down.
What would his reaction be? Scorn? Anger? At this point she didn't care to find out. "Never mind." she snorted softly, and turned, treading slowly away. He didn't seem, or at least not to her, like the type of dog to chase, so why bother.

Shadow
"And the same to you, Thorn," she murmered, dipping her head in a nod of respect. Though, as the American Bulldog began to speak, the black female's eyebrows furrowed with confuson. Did she really need to have permission to stay on her own pack grounds? The bulldog hadn't introduced herself as a warrior for the Strays, so why act as if she was above Shadow herself? Stifling her thoughts of voicing her opinion, the husky mix swallowed hard, turning her crimson optics back to Thorn's with a smirk. "I'm sorry, is this your mate?" She asked simply, not meaning any disrespect.
But, before he could answer, Kitty broke in again with a small speach; does he love her? Now, that was an interesting question. And what of this mission she speaks of? Thoughts silently raced through the mutt's head as she listened to the conversation, hoping she wasn't being to rude with her eavesdropping; but in all fairness, the pregnant bulldog had been the one who'd intruded on their conversation. Pricking her ears forward casually, Shadow slowly lowered her rump to the earthen ground, black fur completely blending in with the darkness of her surroundings; the only things being seen to the non-attentive eye being her chain choker collar and her glowing crimson optics. This conversation was turning out rather interesting.
[OOC: Lol. Sorry, Maybe, I just noticed your OOC comment in your first post. I didn't even know the words when I was younger. XP]

Thorn's jaws parted as Kitty's words. What? He hardly knew her! Still gaping, he watched in astonishment as the Bulldog gave up and walked back to the nursery. Eyes wide with confusion, he turned back to Shadow and rolled his shoulders back in a sort of shrug. What was that all about? Shaking his head at her question, he blinked rapidly, still shocked by what Kitty had said. Darthyn didn't mention this part!
"Erm...no, see..." he struggled, seeing the confusion in Shadow's eyes. She must not know about the agreement. Of course she doesn't, silly brute, that was before she joined. He rolled his eyes at himself and then looked back to Shadow. Taking a deep breath, he began, "See, Darthyn was worried about the pack's future, what with there being no pups being born or dogs mating, so he asked me to try and have pups with a few females, maybe three or four at the most, to get things started. You know, sort of like a stud." He shrugged, embarrassed at how awful it sounded out loud.
"I've promised him I'd keep them happy and healthy and well-fed, but he didn't say anything about that happening..." He looked at the Nursery entrance, where Kitty had disappeared only moments before, then his gaze fell to his paws, which shifted uncomfortably on the ground. "I feel awful, I don't know her well enough to love her, and that wasn't part of the plan! Love has nothing to do with the growth of the pack! She knew that..." He felt himself opening up to the black dog, though he didn't like the vulnerability one bit. "She offered to have my pups." He grimaced, looking up to meet Shadow's gaze, wondering if he'd be met by eyes full of scorn and hatred. "For the good of the pack..." He whispered dejectedly.

As Kitty reached the nursery, she let out a very faint whimper. Why had she been such a fool to ask such a thing? She should have known better. He had a mission, as she had agreed. There was no discussion of love at the time, nor had she really though about it.
With a sigh, she finally trudged into the lonely nursery, stretching out in the corner. Perhaps Thorn would find her to stupid to care about, and forget the discussion, and her.
What exactly had been the point of the embarrassment. She didn't love him. 'I was just curious 'she finally concluded, and with that she tucked her nose under one paw and fell into a troubled sleep.

Shadow
Furrowing her brow curiously, Shadow's head cocked slightly to the left, harks pricking tencly forward as she listened to Thorn's explanation. The male seemed distressed as he spoke, and slight understanding lit in the fem's eyes as she was told about the mission Thorn owned. 'Of course. Pups are the lifeline of all packs. Common sence.' Though the agreement sounded quite...rapist-like, shall we put it, as the wolf hybrid said it out loud, the black femmora could understand where Darthyn was coming from in giving the male such a task. After all, she'd entered the Nursery unnoticed; obviously there weren't many mothers around to protect it.
Nodding slowly as the male finally finished and met her gaze, slowly a smirk formed on her features. "I know where your coming from. You know, your kind of like a hero - saving the pack and all." The obsidian mutt shrugged, flicking her tail to the left once in a friendly gesture. Straightening herself and shifting her wait to her left paw, she lifted her right foot thoughtfuly, crimson optics searching his as she digested the load of information that had been just dumped upon her. "Well, perhaps she took it the wrong way? Or...I hate to say it, but maybe its hormones? Since she is pregnant and..." With the last sentence her tone seemed to quiet a little drasticly, and her cheaks burned slightly under her peltage - as what she said wasn't very pleasant, though the brute might not even fully comprehend the concept; after all, he was a male. He couldn't know the stress motherhood puts on the body, not to mention the drastic moodswings. Shadow, herself had found out because of the many times her own mother had been forcefuly impregnated while Shadow was around.
The husky mix could tell what Thron was expecting; hatred, scorn, perhaps even rejection; but none of the ladder showed through in Shadow's steady gaze. The femme smirked, instead, and heald a stare that spoke of slight compassion; for, even a stud has his bad days.

Thorn ;; Stud Muffin Relief showered over the brute like rain, washing away any doubts he had about Shadow. He even chuckled slightly at her words; him being a hero and all was rather amusing.
"Don't put me on a pedestal, Shadow, I'm nothing special." He grunted, shifting his bulky weight as he got comfortable again in his nest. "Afterall, I have failed in my mission. I have only succeeded with one female." His gaze fell, unable to hold hers any more. He had been pleasantly surprised at how understanding the mutt was. She made him feel as though he didn't have to put on a front to impress her or to make her like him. "Darthyn will not be pleased," he breathed, his wolf-like harks laying flat against his broad skull.
He shrugged at her words; he had no idea how hard it was on a female to bear pups, and luckily he would never find out. Amber eyes searched for her crimson gaze, and when the two met, Thorn gave Shadow a look of understanding with a hint of amusement at her last sentence. But as soon as the gaze was forged, Thorn broke the link, returning his attention to his paws, however uninteresting they were. He was ashamed of himself and his inability to carry out Darthyn's orders, and Kitty wasn't making it any easier for him.
"What am I going to do?" he murmured, only slightly loud enough for the ebony femme to hear, although he didn't expect her to have the answer.

Shadow "Just trying to make you feel better," she murmered with a chuckle in responce to his 'pedestal' comment. For, she surely didn't want him feeling as if he'd failed the pack; as long as he tried his best. Shadow rolled her shoulders under her peltage, relaxing her muscles as she shifted her weight to her right side. At his words about the Alpha, the mutt shrugged simply, harks falling back slightly. "I'm sure he'll appreciate you trying, no?" The statement rolled off her tongue in a slightly questioning manner; after all, she didn't really know Darthyn that well at all. In fact, he'd barely stayed around her long enough to call her a new pack member before wandering off. She didn't mind much, though. She had wanted to be alone that night, anyways, so him leaving was actually a favor, to a certain degree.
Crimson optics met his in order to break from her own thoughts, his muttered question being faintly heard by her harks. Shadow's brow furrowed for a moment before her face straightened once more, a soft sigh tearing its way past her black nostrils. Streatching her legs out before her, she lowered to a sphinx-like laying position, cranium dipping in a thoughtful manner but not touching her paws. Finally, she spoke; "I would carry your pups<" she murmered, though eyes widenned suddenly as she realised how wrong that had come out when she said it out loud. "I mean, if you see me fit enough," she stammered, struggling to regain her composure. "For the sake of your mission." Shadow gulped, biting her bottom lips and resting her skull uneasily upon her paws, closing her eyes and sucking in a sharp breath as ears pressed firmly back. 'Well, that worked out,' she mused sarcasticly, rolling her eyes before opening them and meeting Thorn's gaze; surely quite surprised by her words.[/color]

The wolf-like beast rolled his shoulders back and stretched his neck muscles, surpressing a yawn for fear of being rude, but the truth of the matter was, he was tired. He had tried, very hard, but now he was reluctant to impregnate another female. He didn't want the Kitty situation to happen again.
Forcing a smile to his face, Thorn nodded, russet orbs catching her gaze. "Thanks for trying to cheer me u -" He paused. Did he just hear that correctly? Shadow was offering to mother his brood? His jaw fell open as he stared at her blankly, lost for words. When the male finally regained his composure, he realized that his drowsiness had vanished completely.
"Really? Do you mean it?" He grinned wolfishly, his long, bushy tail beginning to thump rhythmically against the ground, stirring loose particles of dust into the air around it.

Shadow Hearing the surprise in his voice, Shadow allowed a small chuckle to escape past her coal-lined lips. Feathered tail that was heald limp by her hind paws waved slightly as she stood, dipping her head and allowing her tongue to slip out, washing briefly over Thorn's chin in a friendly manner before it retreated behind her lips once more. "Of course," she murmered with a soft roll of her eyes, crimson gaze staring softly into his own. Her ears flicked back toward her skull, but didn't fall too much, wolf-like muzzle tilting upward slightly as her eyes stared out into the night sky, tracing the line of gold stars. Suddenly, a star flew past over head, tailed by yet another. They flew for a few moments before dissapearing into the navy blew expance. "And did you fall for a shooting star?" The lyrics flowed softly from her lips. Remembering with a start that she wasn't by herself, she jerked her muzzle smoothly down to face Thorn once more, smiling. "Sorry. It's just that..I could totally get lost in the night sky."
